Comparison Reel - 11 Sec Club Nov 2014

Despite being a frequent visitor to the 11 Sec Club (http://www.11secondclub.com/), this is the first time I am participating in the monthly competition.

So halfway through animating this, I discovered a thread on 11SecClub which talked about avoiding overacting, indicating, etc. (http://www.11secondclub.com/helpful_hints/acting_it_out)

Go check it out! It's really insightful.

It was after reading this article, I sadly realized that I have fallen into so much pitfalls of not having "original" ideas, and having my character look like an actor (rather then "BEING" the character) :P

Ah, well, it was a good learning experience at least

(you may notice the desperate attempt to be "interesting" in my animation with a cat, airplane motion, and a peace sign)

All critiques (preferably structured critiques) welcome!

Yurika Student Progress Reel

Something I put together really quickly to take with me to CTN tomorrow (http://www.ctnanimationexpo.com/)
Don't know if I'll have the courage to show it to anyone, but might as well have something just in case :)

Cashier Doodle #7 - 11.18.14

It's been a while since I did some cashier doodles.

Here's some drawings I did at work today; the ever so popular Dynamic Drawing exercises.
It definitely helped the time pass by. Hopefully, I'll be doing more in the future (huh, I always say that don't I?)

Twenty Six - Grp Project - FIRST PASS

Our next assignment was a group project.

We had to animate to a clip taken from Night at the Museum; and the first pass was due today.

This is what we had to turn in.

Definitely got a few things to fix (camera angle, posing, timing, etc.)

We had a good laugh at the Morpheus I animated at the beginning. At that moment, we found out that I can only animate women and fruity men.

Lipsync Comparison Reel

A Comparison Reel of my first lipsync!

Gear (Emotional) Change - Playblast

Unlike the scrapped Gear Change that I previously uploaded (https://vimeo.com/110684300), this is the version I decided to redo.
I simplified it to to only one Character (Ultimate Bony which can be downloaded here:http://www.uguryetiskin.com/ultimate_...)
and kept the magic card element.

Hope to make the tweaks and corrections I got from class sometime in the future. We'll see...

Phoneme Assignment with Mery and Morpheus

Getting prepared to do my first lipsyncing. Phonemes are the mouth shapes you make when you talk.
These aren't perfect, but it's something to go off at least.

Gear (Emotional) Change - SCRAP

Another assignment from SMC ET24C.

This time it's all about Gear (Emotional) Change.

I scrapped this one because during the critique, I was told that this was "good animation but bad acting." And I just felt that there's really nothing in the world to save bad action, so might as well scrap this and start over.

I just felt like sharing this anyways to just to say that sometimes you'll have a situation where it'll be better to scrap and start all over, rather than trying to save what you have. Plus it'll be good practice :)
